REVIEW: Violent, Profane "Deadpool" Shouldn't Work, But Really F---ing Does
Rupert Wyatt, director of Fox’s successful 2011 reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes may be walking away from the sequel.
According to Deadline, word is that the filmmaker doesn’t think the announced May 2014 release date for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is doable, the same reason Gary Ross chose not to return for Lionsgate’s Hunger Games follow-up. Fox declined to comment.
The report indicates the studio is pleased with the script, which was penned by Rise of the Planet of the Apes screenwriters Rick Jaff and Amanda Silver, and polished by Contagion‘s Scott Z. Burns.
The 2011 film, which grossed nearly $482 million worldwide, starred James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis.
