EXCL. PREVIEW: Crystal Wrangles NuHumans in "All-New Inhumans" #1
Did you miss the Ant-Man test footage Edgar Wright screened in July at Comic-Con International? Well, join the club! Fortunately one kind deviantART user who did see the video in Hall H has decided to take pity on us and find a way to relay what he saw to the rest of the world.
Artist “Samurai Jack” drew a recreation of the test footage and edited together, then uploaded it to YouTube for all of us to watch. Judging by reports from others who did see Wright’s creation, it’s actually a pretty good representation of what was shown at Comic-Con.
This might appease us for now, but we really hope that Marvel will show the actual video one day. Victoria Alonso, Marvel’s executive vice president of visual effects, recently teased that the test footage could get released.
“What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress,” she said. “We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”
She also reconfirmed that Wright will indeed be directing the project.
Ant-Man has been in development at Marvel since at least 2006, when it was planned as part of the studio’s first wave of releases, alongside Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. No release date has been announced, although there have been rumors it could be Marvel’s third project of 2014.
Wright has described Ant-Man as “essentially a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power,” with a level of comedy on par with that of Iron Man. “The idea is to make a high-concept genre film where it’s within another genre,” he said in 2010. “His suit and its power is the big gadget and it takes place in the real world. I just wanted to do something that was slightly different than the superhero origin film. I felt that between that and the various mad scientist, crazy doctor films that we’ve all seen, this would be a way into an origin that was slightly different.”
