Daniel Radcliffe Eyes Role in Fox’s Frankenstein Adaptation

Daniel Radcliffe might be going from the boy who lived to the assistant who revives in just a few years. TheWrap reports the 23-year-old actor wants to play the role of Hunchback in the Fox reinterpretation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

While there are several Frankenstein projects in the works — including the comic adaptation I, Frankenstein — Fox’s not only has a script written by Max Landis of Chronicle fame but a director in the form of Paul McGuigan, who’s best known for helming Lucky Number Slevin and several episodes of the BBC’s Sherlock.

Fox isn’t allowing many details of Landis’ script to leak out just yet, but we do know that this version has more of a sci-fi take than your average Frankenflick.

According to TheWrap, the role that Radcliffe wants to play — that of Hunchback — is “pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing.” Should be an interesting on-screen departure for the actor, but will it be too distracting seeing Harry Potter skulking around tossing out “Yes master?”
