New Lone Ranger Images Debut

USA Today has debuted new images from Disney’s The Lone Ranger, the big-budget Western from director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The stills naturally feature stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer as Tonto and the Lone Ranger, as well as a sweeping vista and a taste of what we can expect from the film’s much-discussed action sequences.

Verbinski revealed The Lone Ranger employs so many trains scenes that production ended up building its own period train. “It was a modern train clad in a steam engine just to get through all the work we had to do,” he told the newspaper. “The train sequences are really entertaining.”

The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice — taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Opening July 3, 2013, the film also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.
