Iron Man 3 Set Photos Feature Exremis & Iron Patriot Armors

All eyes are on Iron Man 3: As if being the third movie in a ridiculously successful franchise wasn’t a big enough deal, the film will also be the first solo outing for a Marvel Studios post-Avengers. Lots of people want to see how that will shake out, especially considering that Jon Favreau, who directed the first two movies, has stepped aside, and Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is filling his director’s chair.

Needless to say, people want to know what’s going on, so expect a lot of posts like this one on The Daily Blam that shows photos from Newscom of the film’s Florida set. Here you can see Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Mark XLVII armor as well as the Iron Patriot-style suit that will be filled out by Don Cheadle’s Rhodey. The other images show a few more shots of the armors as well as Downey’s Tony Stark carousing.

Co-written by Black and Drew Pearce (No Heroics), Iron Man 3 takes borrows from the 2005-2006 “Extremis” story arc by Warren Ellis and Adi Granov and reportedly finds Iron Man and Iron Patriot facing off against the Mandarin’s Ten Rings terrorist organization, which now includes goons imbued with Extremis, a technorganic take on the Super Soldier Serum.

Opening May 3, 2013, the film stars returning cast members Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau, joined by Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton.

Iron Patriot will not be the same as War Machine (Don Cheadle) but will be played by James Badge Dale as character Eric Savin.  In the comics, Savin is actually Coldblood while Iron Patriot was actually Norman Osborne who was the villain in first Tobey Maguire Spiderman movie, The Green Goblin.  It appears as if for Ironman 3, that the characters will be merged with utilizing Eric Savin’s backstory while giving him the Iron Patriot armor.

IRON MAN 3 will be the first flop of the 2nd wave….

That all gold armor color design is sooooo unappealing and actualy GAY looking that it detracts from any COOL aspect the movie might have.

Batmans costume was TERRIBLE in all 3 Dark knight movies.. but in the Darkness Nolan got away with it.  IRONMAN is in the full daylight and it just doesnt look good AT ALL.

Yes, if something looks GAY it obviously is bad/inferior/detracts from the COOL aspects. You soooooo tell it like it is!

  • Angeltotty

Oh to me if something is GAY it’s fabulous!

Traditionally the third of any series is pants, BUT usually is the second film in the series wasn’t considered as good the third stands out as better (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade). Also the director has a bit of pedigree for solid film making with heart and good dialogue.

My fingers are crossed, especially after The Avengers which probably gives this a bit of a push.

If the lead character in a superhero or any action film is unappealing to look at in every frame ( meaning this weird sloppy gold armor)  then doenst that detract from the enjoyment of the film?

Just as in the opposite — Batman & Robin was a horrible film– but Robins Nightwing Costume ,Freeze, and ‘some of the visuals make it worth watching once and a while.

  • A Human

Seriously. You watch Batman & Robin for the costumes? Does ‘Bat-Nipples’ mean anything to you? Costumes are not a redeeming feature for a god-awful, ridiculous and mind-numbingly painful film, which if I didn’t turn off after the first half hour I would likely have gotten some kind of cancer as it was radiating badness.
