DC's "Rebirth" Roster Could Look Very Familiar
Appearing last night on TBS’s Conan, director J.J. Abrams unveiled the much-anticipated first look at Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to his hit 2009 reboot of the sci-fi franchise. Of course, given the filmmaker’s famously secretive nature, it shouldn’t be surprising that the preview isn’t exactly what fans might have hoped for.
“Paramount was really unhappy with me, at the idea of bringing anything,” Abrams told Conan O’Brien. “I really told them I really wanted to do it, and they said, well, it’s gotta be really short. I said, ‘OK, so I can bring one,’ and they said yes, but it can’t be longer than three frames. […] It’s three frames, but they’re all there. […] This is a scene where Spock, who’s, y’know, one of the main characters, for reasons that you’ll have to see the film to understand, is in a volcano in this crazy suit.”
So, that’s what you see in the above image: Zachary Quinto as Spock wearing a crazy suit inside of a volcano. Presumably, we’ll see more sometime around Christmas when surely a teaser trailer will be released.
Star Trek Into Darkness, which opens May 17, 2013, also stars Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
