"The Flash" Adds "Harry Potter" Star Tom Felton as Series Regular
New Line is more interested in Hobbits than in space marines these days — at least, that’s the case with the long-stalled adaptation of Gears of War, which has been in the works since 2007. Variety reports the studio has plans to put the property into turnaround, which means it can sell the rights to another studio, in order to focus on Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.
Epic Games’ Gears of War video game series focuses on Marcus Fenix’s Delta Squad as they fight battles against invading aliens like the Locust and the Lambent. The series now boasts three games, with a fourth, Gears of War: Judgement scheduled for release March 19.
Len Wiseman (Total Recall, Underworld) was attached to direct the adaptation for a time, but moved on to other projects. The story has gone through several drafts, with the latest draft being delivered by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tidees screenwriter Stuart Beattie.
