Bryan Fuller’s Munsters Reboot
Will Air As Halloween Special
Just yesterday, we wrote about the possibility of NBC attempting to recoup some of the $10 million it shelled out for the pilot to Bryan Fuller’s long-brewing Munsters remake Mockingbird Lane. Despite all that time and money, the final product didn’t meet network expectations, leaving executives with a handful of options: shelve the project, put it back into development, air the pilot as a Halloween special, or shoot more footage and transform the hour-long episode into a television movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC chose the third option, and will air the pilot Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The network has yet to comment, but presumably an official announcement will be made shortly.
Written by Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal) and directed by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men), the pilot stars O’Connell, Eddie Izzard and Portia de Rossi as the family of middle-class monsters made famous in the 1960s sitcom.
