Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
Be warned: if you haven’t watched the Season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead yet, major spoilers lie ahead.
It’s time to say goodbye to something we didn’t know the cast of The Walking Dead cared so much about: Hershel’s leg.
The appendage got the ax — or rather, the hatchet — Sunday at the end of The Walking Dead season premiere in one of the most shocking moments of the series thus far. Now that his leg is behind us, the cast and producers have come together in a new MTV News video to bid it one final farewell.
“It was a strong leg. It was probably his favorite leg,” Steven Yeun remembered, while his co-star Lauren Cohan jokingly cried next to him. “I really liked the percentage of hair to skin visible on it, and it had that corn on it, which was gross.”
Cohan choked out, “They could have just taken the pinkie.”
It turns out that not all of the people involved in the show remember the leg, which was chopped off after a zombie bit it, quite as fondly. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Glen Mazzara seemed glad to have it gone.
“Out of his two legs, I think that one was my least favorite,” Kirkman said.
Mazzara added, “That leg was a real problem. It would always call with script notes and everything, so, we took care of that leg.”
As for the rest of the cast? Well, they all have big plans to grill the zombie-infected meat up and have it with a side of barbeque sauce. Gross.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
