Axel-In-Charge: Recapping "Avengers Standoff's" Major Developments, Preparing for "Punisher"
Director Michael Bay has sort of shot down a rumor that he’s in early talks for Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg to star in Transformers 4.
The report originated Tuesday with Twitch, which contends the two, fresh from working together on the low-budget Pain & Gain, are “having early conversations” about the next installment of Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster franchise.
However, Bay quicklytook to his blog to clarify, “The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project.” Mind you, he didn’t say it isn’t true, simply that it’s just that it’s “a rumor.” In an update, Twitch notes, “Of course, he also said Megatron wouldn’t be in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. And that he wouldn’t make Transformers 4 at all.”
Twitch also reports that Transformers 2 and 3 scribe Ehren Kruger is working on the script. The website’s sources contend the film “will revolve around an adult star (the part being discussed with Wahlberg) and his teenage child with the idea being that the child would then grow to be the focus of subsequent entries in the series.”
