Jason Fabok's 10 Favorite "Justice League" Moments
Series co-star Yvette Nicole Brown was the first to break the news when she announced the return date on Twitter.
“Guys, #Community officially has an airdate: Thursday, February 7th at 8pm!” she wrote. “February 7th is #October19th! Who knew?! :)”
NBC later confirmed that Community will replace 30 Rock after the Tina Fey series wraps its final season. That’s good news for Community, as Thursdays are great for NBC comedies but Friday (its original Season 4 slot) isn’t good for any show.
This will be the first season of Community without series creator Dan Harmon at the helm. New showrunners Moses Port and David Guarascio took over after NBC fired Harmon, so it will be interesting to see if their vision differs from his. Judging by the previously mentioned “Oct. 19″ video, the show’s brand of humor will probably remain the same.
At the time Community‘s return date was pushed back, NBC released a statement that read, “Given the success we’ve had for the past four weeks — including winning the first week of the season in adults 18-49 — we’ve decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold Community and Whitney from their previously announced premieres of Oct. 19, Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week; plus, we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of Whitney and Community.”
