SDCC: "Batman: The Killing Joke" Cast & Crew Debuts Film at Comic-Con International
The publicity push for G.I. Joe: Retaliation is starting back up again.
In May, the Jon M. Chu-directed action film was delayed nine months, only weeks before it was set to hit theaters. Now we have the first international trailer since that delay, and it shows what looks to be a great movie.
It’s clear here that Dwayne Johnson‘s character is the center of the movie, and the trailer even gives a hint of the fate of Channing Tatum’s character. The teaser also does a great job of setting up the movie’s Cobra threat, promising the “greatest redistribution of power the world has ever seen.”
There’s not that much different here from what we saw the last time Paramount Pictures did a major marketing push, but the trailer does seem a bit more focused on the movie we’ll actually see. The belief that preview audiences felt they weren’t getting what they thought they’d come to see was believed to be a factor in Retaliation‘s delay.
Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. At the time of the delay, it was reported that the release-date shift was in an attempt to make the film’s 3D look better. G.I. Joe: Retaliation is now hitting theaters on March 29, 2013.
