Brett Ratner and Dwayne Johnson Confirmed For Hercules Adaptation

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the hardest-working man in show business. Don’t believe us? Check out his Twitter account. He not only has a ton of movies in pipeline, including Fast Five, Journey 3 and Ciudad, but also works out like a maniac to keep his impressive physique. And it’s that physique get the spotlight in Hercules: The Thracian War.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Brett Ratner-directed film has now been set up as a co-production of MGM and Paramount Pictures.

Based on the 2008 Radical Publishing miniseries by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya, Hercules follows the Greek hero and his six battle-worn companions as they’re called upon by the Thracian king to train his army. But in Thrace Hercules and his band of lost souls discover how far they’ve fallen and what it will take to travel the path to redemption.

Filming is expected to begin in early 2013.

    I’d love an explanation as to how a Greek Demigod is now black/ Polynesian.  It was bad enough seeing a white Kevin Sorbo surrounded by a clearly white and Maori supporting cast portraying a supposed Greek culture.
