"Sam Wilson" & US Agent Clash as Spencer's "Captain America" Saga Escalates
The Killing isn’t staying dead. AMC chose not to renew the series in July, but it was reported a month later that it could find new life on Netflix or DirecTV. Now we’re learning that Netflix is actually looking to pick up the crime drama for Season 3.
Deadline reports AMC and Netflix are close to a deal to bring The Killing back. The talks back been “touch and go for a while,” but eventually brought AMC back into the equation. The plan is for the third season to begin production in February with all the major cast members returning.
Based on the Danish miniseries Forbrydelsen, The Killing tied together three distinct stories centered around the homicide of a young girl named Rosie Larsen: the detectives assigned to the case, the victim’s parents and the city’s politicians. While the first season debuted to 4.7 million viewers before eventually settling into an average of 2.2 million, a last-minute plot twist angered and alienated a lot of fans. As a result, perhaps, Season 2 never regained momentum and the ratings dipped to a series-low 1.59 million.
Netflix also is bringing back another departed program next year: Arrested Development. After being off the air for five years, Netflix announced its plan to produce a fourth season of the show last November. All 10 to 13 episodes will debut on Netflix in one fell swoop in spring 2013.
