Guggenheim Says Ward Switching Sides Leads "Agents of SHIELD" into "Civil War II"
The hunt for serial killer Joe Carroll begins in January, so Fox is kicking off its big push for The Following, the new crime drama created by Kevin Williamson (Scream, The Vampire Diaries). The series focuses on FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and his team as they try to track down Carroll (James Purefoy). Making matters more complicated, Hardy and Carroll have something of a past that will be revealed as the series continues.
As you can see from the trailer below, Hardy helped capture Carroll previously and now that the criminal has escaped from prison, the FBI wants Hardy back to do it again. As it turns out, Carroll has an affinity for the works of Edgar Allan Poe, which explains much of the writing on the female body in the poster.
Shawn Ashmore, Natalie Zea, Jeananne Goossen, Valorie Curry, Adan Canto, Nico Tortorella and Kyle Catlett also star. The Following premieres Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
