5 Deadpool Friends & Frenemies We Gotta See in the Sequel
Film, Comic Books
Even without any real competition, MGM and Sony’s Skyfall still impressed at the North American box office. The 23rd James Bond film earned about $87.8 million domestically, which not only easily won the weekend, but also marked the best-ever opening for the franchise.
That figure gets added to the $428.6 million worldwide tally Skyfall has collected in its two weeks of release, bringing the Sam Mendes-directed film has earned a whopping $518.4 million. It’s on track to outperform Daniel Craig’s previous two Bond installments, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
The top five was rounded out by Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph ($33 million), Paramount’s Flight ($15 million), Warner Bros.’ Argo ($6.745 million) and Fox’s Taken 2 ($4 million).
The other opening was a limited, 110city release for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, which landed at No. 15 with $900,000. That might not seem like a lot, but that breaks down to $81,818 per location, which is nothing to sneeze at. Lincoln opens wide on Friday.
This weekend will see the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, so expect another big weekend for the box office.
