In Slott's "Amazing Spider-Man," With Great Wealth Comes Global Responsibility
The original Star Wars movies featured Darth Vader as a tragic villain. The Star Wars prequels delved into what turned young Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side. So what will the new trilogy be without our favorite Dark Lord of the Sith?
According to a new rumor, Disney has been asking the same question. While original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are expected to reprise their roles, what about the most iconic figure in the Star Wars universe? A new report claims the Mouse House is trying to figure out a way to resurrect Darth Vader and have him be a part of the sequels.
“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible,” a “film mole” tells British tabloid Express. “The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films.”
The source adds, “This is science fiction, remember. Darth Vader will rise from the ashes.”
Hopefully that’s not literally how it’s going to happen, but we don’t doubt that Disney is looking to bring back Darth Vader. Remember what Yogurt told us in Spaceballs? This is all about merchandising, and Star Wars: Episode VII, like the Star Wars prequels before it, is just the real-life equivalent of Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
So how will Disney bring back Vader? Your guess is as good as ours. We really hope nothing pans out with this rumor since it’s not from an especially trustworthy source, but at the same time we wouldn’t put this news past the studio.
