Axel-In-Charge: Navigating the "Civil War II" Landscape, Bringing DMC to Marvel
The CW has released images from the Dec. 12 episode of Arrow, called “Year’s End,” that promise not only a Christmas gathering for the Queen clan but also a mysterious second archer for Starling City.
Who’s under that hood is the $64,000 question. It seems a little early in the run of the hit superhero drama for Tommy Merlyn (played by Colin Donnell) to follow in the footsteps of his comic-book namesake and take up his bow against Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), but stranger things have happened. Maybe it’s a feint intended to make viewers think the shadowy figure is Tommy, only to have him revealed to be someone else. (But, hey, what happened to Oliver’s island mentor, anyway?)
Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers that after he and his father went missing, Moira (Susanna Thompson) and Thea (Willa Holland) stopped celebrating Christmas. Determined to make up for lost time and restore a sense of normalcy to the Queen household, Oliver decides to throw the family a Christmas party. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) asks Laurel (Katie Cassidy) to spend Christmas with him but she points out that Christmas was also her sister’s Sara’s birthday and she needs to be with her father. Tommy suggests changing things up might be the best way for everyone to heal but Laurel isn’t sure her father is ready for that.
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
