Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
A&E has debuted the first two mood-setting teasers for Bates Motel, the upcoming contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho that “promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years.”
Produced by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights), the horror series stars Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Norman Bates, Vera Farmiga (The Departed) as his mother Norma Bates, and Max Thieriot (Kit Kittredge) as his rebellious older brother Dylan. According to the network, “Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand just how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is and how she helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.”
Bates Motel debuts sometime this spring.
