Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Get ready, Mortal Kombat fans, it’s time for another round of live-action fisticuffs based on the 20-year-old video game franchise. Warner Bros. Digital just announced that a second season of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series will debut early next year. Kevin Tancharoen will return as director and co-writer along with Josh Baizer and Marshall Johnson (Dead Loss).
In the second season the saga continues as Liu Kang and Ermac join the ranks of fighters introduced in the first season of the web series including Kenshi, Kung Lao, Kuai Lang, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Sub Zero. This new season will uncover the rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld. The epic battle for Earthrealm has finally begun!
The new season will feature returning actors Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-O) as Scorpion and Cary Tagawa (Mortal Kombat) as Shang Tsung, along with new additions Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) as Kuai Liang, Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) as Johnny Cage, Brian Tee (The Wolverine) as Liu Kang, and Mark Dacascos (Iron Chef America) as Kung Lao.
The series will be seen exclusively on the Michinima YouTube channel starting in spring 2013. For a first look at the new season, tune into the Streamy Awards on Feb. 17.
