Anne Hathaway Misses Catwoman So Much It Makes Her Cry

Anne Hathaway really liked playing Catwoman. Like, really, really liked playing Catwoman. In fact, she liked portraying Selina Kyle so much that she started crying in the middle of an interview after being asked if she would want to reprise the role in a potential Catwoman spinoff to The Dark Knight Rises. Don’t believe us? Watch the above interview.

The Access Hollywood interviewer brought up how much she would love to see Hathaway involved in a Catwoman spinoff, which has been rumored since Hathaway stole the show in the conclusion of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. After it’s explained the project is merely Internet conjecture, Hathaway opened up about how much she misses playing that character.

“I would love it. I actually, it’s so embarrassing, I was at a press Q & A thing the other night for a screening of The Dark Knight, and the moderator asked me, ‘So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?’ And I burst into tears, because I miss her,” she said. “It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selina so much and I love her presence in my life and getting to … I’m crying again.”

It’s true, she did start crying. But at least she should hold out some hope that, even if there aren’t “enough Kleenex in the world,” a Catwoman movie could be somewhere down the road. Warner Bros. is gearing up for Justice League movie that will come out in 2015, and it will need a fully fleshed out cast of characters. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is already rumored to play Batman in the film (his representatives have denied it), so why not let Hathaway back? She seems to really, really need it.

Huh. I mean, I really liked her in the movie and would love to see her reprise the role but man, that is a strong reaction.

Wow. Growing up I wanted actors to have more respect for playing superhero related characters.  I’ve clearly lived long enough to see that wish come true. Even though it’s a bit unusual a reaction it does make me like her even more. It’s great when someone can have true passion for what they do for a living.

Anne rocked it. That she looked hotter than hell was an added bonus.

While I haven’t seen “rises” yet, it’s refreshing to hear her say this. Maybe more actors will have a greater respect for the source material and comic in general. The two biggest movies of the year were comic book related… they sort of deserve to be respected.

you not seeing rises yet, makes me cry.

    She was better?

I didn’t dare dream someone playing Selina not just how I always saw the character in my head, but somehow even more so, than Hathaway did. She was amazing!

There wouldn’t be enough kleenex in the world for me to handle Hathaway getting back into that leather suit…. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

  • Jonathan Price

I thought she did great, given the material she had to work with.

Maybe our film JL will be J’onn (Keith David), Catwoman (Hathaway), Katana (Lucy Liu), Vibe (Michael Pena), Stargirl (Maisie Williams), Detroit Lantern (Naveen Andrews), Green Arrow (Desmond Harrington) and Hawkman (Gerard Butler).

If Hathaway returns, then why not ask Bale to come back as well…?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not going to be playing batman

    You haven’t see TDKR? What’s the hold-up?

  • John

Seriously? She was fake and overacting like crazy. Ruined the movie for me.

  • Adam Walters

She was pretty good in the role, but “stole the show”? This is the first time I’ve heard anything close to that.

  • Statham

Actually, given the buzz surrounding Bane, a lot of reviewers and fans came away very pleasantly surprised when Hathaway’s Selina was the bigger deal.

  • Dynamarcfilms

Most memorable part of a great film.  Hathaway rocked Catwoman!

  • Advocate05

I think you confused Marion Cotillard for Anne Hathaway.  Catwoman stole the show.  Bane was okay, but he shhhounded like Shhhean Connery in a mashhhk.

  • euro206

Hathaway was garbage, she has no fighting skills whatsoever and never did an actual stunt on her own. Plus her acting is horrible that’s why she was the back up option to the role.

Now I feel bad for not liking her as Catwoman.
