Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
TheWrap has learned from insiders that Wiig is being considered to play a role as love interest for Steve Carell’s character Brick Tamland in the sequel to the 2004 comedy. Thus far we’ve only seen him getting cozy with a bear, but a lot could have changed for him in the time since Anchorman hit theaters.
The part is still up in the air, as director Adam McKay hasn’t completed the script and thus no secondary actors have been cast. He previously teased he is planning to bring together a great ensemble cast for the upcoming Anchorman sequel, so this follows through on that promise. Though Wiig’s name wasn’t mentioned at the time, it makes sense she would be involved in this movie due to what a large presence she has in the comedy world nowadays.
“We’re talking about for Anchorman 2 creating a murderer’s row of the best day players ever. Like, having every single one-line or three-line role, just be someone we just love,” McKay said. “Someone like Ian Roberts or Rob Huebel or Paula Killen — just making sure every day player is a home run.”
Although no new cast members have been announced, Will Ferrell, Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and David Koechner are all returning. TheWrap writes that the movie is due out in October 2013, although we had only heard a rumored Christmas 2013 release date before. McKay is now finishing this film’s script.
