Arrested Development Season 4 Expands Beyond 10 Episodes
Production on the new season of Arrested Development has been put on hold as Netflix increases its episode, order Deadline reports.
While shooting the originally planned 10 episodes, co-creator and writer Mitch Hurwitz came up with new ideas for character arcs, which he, 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV took to Netflix. Executives then bumped up the order to between 12 and 15 episodes.
Although production was initially scheduled to conclude after Thanksgiving, it was extended for a few more weeks, picking up again sometime in January. The new episodes will take some time to write, and then producers have to nail down scheduling for the huge cast again. However, everyone remain confident the new season will still debut in the spring.
Original cast members Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Cera, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale and Jessica Walter have returned, joined by additional guest stars like Mae Whitman, Liza Minelli, Carl Weathers, Henry Winkler, John Slattery, Isla Fisher, Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien.
