Axel-In-Charge: Waid & Samnee on "Black Widow" and the Dawn of the All-New, All-Different Era
Sony Pictures has debuted what’s being called the final trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty. The movie comes out in limited release next week and in a full nationwide release on Jan. 11.
More than any of the previous trailers, this one focuses more on the journey to catch Osama bin Laden than the actual capture. Jessica Chastain’s Maya is at the center of that, although this trailer makes it evident that many more people than just her were involved.
Zero Dark Thirty has earned some criticism for its take on torture during the Iraq War and hunt for bin Laden. This trailer opens with a tease of that, but it doesn’t show any of the interrogation techniques. At least it does tease the great performance Jason Clarke gives as Maya’s CIA colleague Dan.
Formerly referred to as Kill Bin Laden, the movie has been at the center of a political firestorm in which opponents accuse the Obama administration of giving the filmmakers access to classified material. Written by Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker), Zero Dark Thirty stars Chastain, Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong, Jennifer Ehle, Kyle Chandler and Edgar Ramirez.
