Tom Hiddleston Doesn’t Know If Loki Will Return in The Avengers 2

Loki is the Marvel villain who just won’t go away. After being defeated in Thor, he came back for The Avengers. Once Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were finished with him, it was announced he’d be back for Thor: The Dark World. So will he return again for The Avengers 2? Tom Hiddleston revealed in a recent interview that he still isn’t sure.

“I don’t know, and that really is the honest answer,” he told MSN. “I know I’ve been known for obfuscation in other quarters, but I have no idea, I haven’t spoken to Joss. He’s definitely doing it. So I suspect not, only because I think that probably the audiences are tired of Loki being the bad guy. Maybe the Avengers need somebody else to fight. But I’d love to be part of it again.”

Maybe Loki doesn’t need to be a bad guy, though. While we don’t see Thor and Loki fighting foes together, he still could be a part of The Avengers world without being a villain. Hiddleston has quickly turned into a fan-favorite actor, so we’re crossing our fingers that there’s a place for him in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Opening Nov. 8, 2013, Thor: The Dark World also stars Chis Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Christopher Eccleston.

Why can’t Thor and Loki fight together? Megatron and Optimus have fought against common foes many-a-times and succeeded in putting up a good fight, especially since those two have occasionally called each other brothers in the past.

I wouldn’t count him out. You can never count a character like Loki out of anything! It wouldn’t surprise me if he already knows about Thanos and has a scheme to double cross him already in the works.

Give the guy a break. I know it’s the in-thing to want Hiddleston in everything, but just because you didn’t end a movie with the villain being killed, doesn’t mean the guy has to be in everything; I wouldn’t be surprised if his role in Thor 2 is just a cameo from wherever Odin’s decided to imprison him; You can have too much of a good thing.
