"Gotham" Debuts First Look at Mr. Freeze
Although Christoph Waltz had to pass on The Muppets 2, it seems as though he hasn’t cut ties with the Disney project just yet. Ty Burrell has replaced him as the Interpol inspector, but Waltz says there still might be another role in the movie for him.
“We’re talking about it again today, but it might not be a proper part,” he told Collider. “It might be one of these what they call cameos.”
Waltz reportedly couldn’t take the lead role due to scheduling conflicts. Because he was so enamored with the idea, however, he and the filmmakers behind the project are still trying to squeeze him into the movie in some capacity.
“I was looking forward to meeting Miss Piggy, but they told me that dancing with Miss Piggy, for example, is almost impossible because she’s totally operated by puppeteers and dancing, you have to dance with someone where there’s actually a real person inside, so let’s see who I dance with,” he said.
The sequel to the Jason Segel/Nicholas Stoller-written 2011 film will move the action from the United States to Europe, with a heist vibe similar to that of The Great Muppet Caper, Stoller has said. James Bobin has returned to shoot the sequel which he has co-written with Stoller. Ricky Gervais and Burrell will play the main human parts. Songwriter Brett McKenzie will also return and is working on original songs for the project. Filming is expected to start in and around London’s Pinewood Studios in January.
