Justice League Lineup Revealed?

Yet another rumor has come out revolving Warner Bros.’ Justice League, and this one seems slightly more credible than the previous ones. While earlier reports claimed the film will be based on a 1980 DC story arc and feature Darkseid as the villain, this one says most of what we already know: The film will feature characters like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Cosmic Book News claims to have a list of the DC characters who will star in the film that was allegedly over by a source at the company. Here’s the full report:

• Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

• Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn’t really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

• Wonder Woman: She has only been in man’s world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

• Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold’s character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

• Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

• Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

• Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.

• There will also be a heavy military presence in the film which in future rewrites could include characters featured in Man of Steel or even Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) of which neither are included in the first draft.

• Alfred Pennyworth is in the film in a minor appearance.

• Lois Lane is also in the film in a cameo.

• Darkseid’s Elite will be featured who go up against the Justice League early on in the film.

None of these come as too big a shock, but it remains to be seen if there’s any credibility to the report. Thus far all we officially know about Justice League is that it’s coming out in 2015 and being written by Will Beall.

    Martian Manhunter!!!…that is all…

  • chaz!

I gotta say, I think this sounds fantastic! (I just kinda wish we got to see Vic Stone in the movie).

If this is true I really don’t understand why they didn’t just adapt the 1st 6 issues of the new 52 justice league, it was written like a movie, the action was fun and it brought the team together in an interesting way. And in all honesty Cyborg is more interesting than Martian Manhunter.

    all of my nope

  • KirbyIsGod

Uh, no.  People, including DC, keep trying to push Cyborg as SO important and interesting.  Still not happening, no matter how much hype.  He’s alright, but isn’t worth HALF a Martian Manhunter.  He’s a jumped up Teen Titan with a long way to go before he should be considered even a 2nd tier Leaguer.

    No diversity?

  • Rollo Tomassi

No. No diversity. Just the one vagina and a bunch of white guys.
Except Martian Manhunter, who will invariably be cast with a black actor. Because, y’know, he’s “different”.

I think we should start a movement now and get Denzel in the role of Batman. How awesome would that be?

  • enemyisyou

I just hope that they really embrace these characters and not try to apply all this “grounded in reality” junk that WB’s been all about lately.  Avengers embraced the absurd, but found a way to make it still fairly relate-able, there HAS to be a way to do the same with the JL.

  • hysanadu

I really want this to be good.  They need to use the JLU series or Young Justice as a template.

  • slafaive

I think it would be best to start with a small team up movie, like Batman/Superman. That’s a whole movie right there just watching them interact and come to trust one another.

    Looking good

I have to second KirbyIsGod’s sentiments. Imo, Cyborg was only added to the JL to promote ethnic diversity (same with the choice of using John Stewart as the GL of the animated series). Although he does bring something to the table (tech) it is easily filled by Bruce Wayne’s resources & J’onn J’onz’s Martian knowledge.

I’m a little (okay, a lot) biased since Martian Manhunter is my favorite character (second only to Hal Jordan). Thing is, he has almost every ethnicity counted in his many alter egos (as originally revealed in Ostrander & Mandrakes superb series) so he fills the bill for that segment.

Nevertheless, I’ll just be happy to see what DCE can come up with. Fingers crossed that it’ll be something DC fans like us would be proud of.

I thought Grant Morrison’s first four issues of JLA would’ve translated really well, pitting the JLA against the Hyperclan/white martians, and featuring the Hal and Barry versions of GL and Flash.

I’ll believe nothing that relates to this project until there’s even the slightest, set-in-stone sign that this thing is actually moving forward as a motion picture, because I seriously don’t think it’s moved past the brainstorming stage yet , that it’s all just a bunch of ideas written on Post-Its and a bunch of guys saying “Wouldn’t it be cool if…”.  I believe it was Andy Warhol that said “In the future, everyone will be attached to the Justice League film for 15 minutes”.  The man was a prophet.

So this Justice League film has the SAME problem as the Avengers movie, a whole lot of WHITE people and only ONE female per team.  It’s the 21st century, can’t we do better than this?

  • Gray Ghost

No offense, but this diversity for the sake of diversity fad is getting somewhat tiring. This line-up (if it does end up to be the actual line-up) is not randomly put together by the people at WB because their racists/chauvinists. It’s easily the most recognizable JLA line-up and the logical choice for the first movie. You could argueabout replacing Hal with John Stewart but there has already been a GL movie with Hal and unless WB wants to reboot GL it makes sense to put Hal in this one. You could also argue about putting in a second female, but it will be difficult enough to handle seven characters so adding an eighth doesn’t seem like a good step. Lastly you could have Cyborg instead of Martian Manhunter but I believe I am not the only one who thinks MM is more interesting.
So again tj´his just is the logical way to go as far as the line-up is concerned.
