Warner Bros. Gets Epic, Plans to Send Odyssey Into Space

Warner Bros. is taking Homer’s The Odyssey somewhere it’s never been: to space.

With projects like Star Wars: Episode VII and Guardians of the Galaxy on the horizon, it makes sense that space-set films are coming back into fashion — if they ever really left.

Deadline reveals that Warner Bros. has hired Black List writer James DiLapo to script a film in which Homer’s sequel to The Illiad heads to outer space. The project is being described as “the futuristic re-imagining of the Greek epic,” which follows Odysseus’ 10-year struggle to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War.

1821 Pictures’ Terry Dougas was the one to come up with the idea. Both Dougas and his partner Paris Kasidokostas Latsis presented the concept to Warner Bros. and will produce the film as well.
