AMC Revives The Killing
AMC has confirmed that The Killing, which the network canceled in July, has received a reprieve.
Thanks to a deal between the cable network and Fox Television Studios, showrunner Veena Sud and stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman will return for a third season.
Perhaps learning from viewer outcry after Rosie Larsen’s murder wasn’t solved by the end of Season 1, AMC has announced the third season will introduce a new case that will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes. The story will pick up a year after the closing of the Larsen case, with Enos’ Sarah Linden no longer a detective. But when a search for a runaway girl by her ex-partner, Kinnaman’s Stephen Holder, leads him to a gruesome ring of murders connected to one of Linden’s previous investigations, she’s drawn back in.
“The Killing from day one has been a truly original take on the crime drama, AMC President Charlie Collier said in a statement. “Veena Sud and the rest of the talented creative team are hard at work shaping the lives of Linden and Holder, portrayed by the terrific Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman. We’re so pleased to welcome back The Killing for another season.”
Production begins Feb. 25
