Axel-In-Charge: In-Depth with Alonso on Marvel's "All-New, All-Different" Lineup
The first image has arrived of Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg in 2 Guns, the Universal Pictures adaptation of the BOOM! Studios comic series. JoBlo posted a preview of the studio’s 2013 releases and , although spoiler-free, the 2 Guns photo is among the ones we’re most excited about.
Created by Steven Grant and Mataes Santolouco, the 2007 crime series 2 Guns follows a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who, after unwittingly investigating each other, team up to steal money from the mob. Unfortunately they learn too late that the $50 million actually belongs to the CIA.
2 Guns also stars Edward James Olmos as play Papi Greco, a dangerous Mexican drug lord, and Fred Ward as a U.S. Navy admiral. Rounding out the cast are James Marsden, Bill Paxton and Paula Patton. The film is due out Aug. 16.
“It relies less on action, let’s put it that way, which I appreciate. I don’t mind doing action, I can have fun doing action, but I’m more interested in character-based work,” director Batlasar Kormakur told Collider of the tone in the film. “There is some good action in it, but it doesn’t go to the extreme of action. It’s actually, I think, hopefully there is more fun in the action than necessarily big explosions.”
