"Supergirl" Pilot Leaks 6 Months Early -- But Is That a Bad Thing?
There’s a possibility Agent Maria Hill will pay a visit to Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D., should ABC order the pilot to series.
“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it,” actress Cobie Smulders told IAmRogue. “And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it.”
If those talks pan out, Smulders would reunite with her Avengers co-star Clark Gregg, who’s reprising his role as fan-favorite Agent Phil Coulson in a project ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee has described as “just very Joss.” Sure, Coulson seemingly died at Loki’s hand in Marvel’s $1.5 billion blockbuster, but Lee has assured S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place after the battle of New York.
While there’s still some question about Smulders’ appearance on S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s confirmed for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, joining her Avengers castmates Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, as well as Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Toby Jones and Frank Grillo.
Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, the sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger is believed to be based on the acclaimed comic-book storyline of the same name in which writer Ed Brubaker revealed Captain America’s World War II sidekick Bucky Barnes didn’t die in the 1945 explosion that left the superhero in suspended animation in a block of ice. Instead, an amnesiac Bucky was rescued by the Soviets, fitted with a bionic arm and programmed to serve as an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. The secret is revealed in the present day only after he seemingly killed the Red Skull and launched a terrorist attack on Philadelphia.
Smulders revealed she hasn’t read a full script yet for The Winter Soldier, which is set to begin filming in March. “I’ve seen parts of it, but yeah I don’t know much,” she said. “This is Marvel! They don’t let you know anything.”
The S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot is filming now in Los Angeles. Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.
