Comic Books, Film
The Avengers might only be nominated in one category, but the Marvel blockbuster is going to have a major presence at the Academy Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the cast of The Avengers will present an award during the Feb. 24 telecast.
“We are happy to re-unite the Avengers cast to present on our show,” Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a joint statement. “Audiences who enjoyed the year’s biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again.”
Who does that entail exactly? According to the release, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. Of these actors, only Evans hasn’t attended in the past or been nominated. It seems as though Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson won’t be a part of this presentation.
It will be interesting to see what award the cast presents. The film is up for Achievement in Visual Effects . It’s competing against The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Life of Pi, Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman. You can likely guess which movie we’re rooting for.
