Rumor: Harrison Ford’s Return
to Star Wars is ‘a Done Deal’
J.J. Abrams is directing Star Wars: Episode VII and spinoff films are in the works, so what does that mean for the movies’ casts? When the new trilogy announced, there was much speculation that the original three stars — Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford — would return. According to one report, one of those actors has finally made his involvement official.
Latino Review reports Ford signed a deal to return to the franchise, although it’s unknown now big of a role he’ll play or precisely which movie he’ll appear in. Still, the website contends “official sources” confirm Ford is “officially coming back as Han Solo.”
It was first reported in November that Ford and his former co-stars were considering reprising the roles of Han, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Ford in particular seemed enthused by the idea, with a source saying, “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.” Hopefully an official confirmation will come soon, like it did with Abrams’ involvement.
Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams from a script by Michael Arndt, is targeted for release in 2015, with the first of the standalone movies to follow.
