The CW’s Tomorrow People Casts Mad Men Actress Peyton List

Greg Berlanti’s CW pilot The Tomorrow People has found one of its leads in Mad Men actress Peyton List, Deadline reports.

Based on the 1970s British sci-fi series of the same name, the project centers on young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, and possess psionic powers and can communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Executive producers Berlanti (Everwood, Arrow) and Julie Plec (Kyle XY, The Vampire Diaries) brought in Phil Klemmer (Chuck, Veronica Mars) to write the pilot.

List, who also appeared on FlashForward and an episode of Smallville, will play Cara, described as a member of the group “who has a sense of humor beneath her serious demeanor and seems to be a trustworthy ally.”

So it’s going to be a rehash of ‘Heroes’ then, and look how that show went down the tank until no one cared anymore.

They tried to reboot this back in the 90’s

Who else remembers this playing on Nickelodeon in the 90’s with Naomie Harris?

Here.  Though I am more partial to the original series from the 70’s.  I think I’ll break out the dvds this weekend.

Hope this does well. But I’d rather see the BBC or SyFy take this on, because of the shorter seasons.

The original 70’s show was a blast. I’m not ultra-confident about a CW American remake, but I’ll give it a shot.

Reading the wiki the original concept sounds almost identical to the mutants in Marvel comics.  Not expecting too much originality with this one …

I remember watching the American version on Nickelodeon.

Yeah it would be better on bbc, I never saw the 70s version. It’ll probably be on Netflix by the time this show airs on the CW.
