INTERVIEW: Duggan's "Deadpool" Deals with the Pressures of High Profile Heroics
We’ve seen Don Cheadle as James Rhodes in his Iron Patriot armor, and Guy Pearce as a very David Caruso-like Aldrich Killian. And now this morning, Marvel has unveiled Ben Kingsley as the villainous Mandarin in the latest character poster for Iron Man 3.
The image provides us with perhaps our best look yet at the big-screen version of Tony Stark’s archenemy, who clearly draws from the character’s comic-book roots (he debuted in February 1964’s Tales of Suspense #50), while embracing some decidedly modern, and multicultural, fashion accessories. The sunglasses and dragon-embroidered camouflage pants are a nice touch.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton. It opens May 3.
