Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
There are many new actors in the cast of Kick-Ass 2, but V star Morris Chestnut is among the more intriguing ones. His involvement in the movie was announced in August, and he recently opened up about why he’s excited for it while promoting The Call.
“Kick-Ass 2 is gonna be a fun ride,” Chestnut told Coming Soon. “It’s a wild, suspenseful ride. Kick-Ass 2 is a wild, kick-ass ride. I’m proud to be a part of that one.”
With that very detailed description out of the way, Chestnut goes on to talk a bit about his role in the film. He plays Chloe Moretz’s guardian Sergeant Marcus Williams, a character who was previously played by actor Omari Hardwick.
“Nic Cage died in the first movie, so he asked me to look over her, and I’m just trying to force her to do the right thing; in terms of going to school and getting her education, and staying away from the streets, and staying away from Kick-Ass. And she doesn’t listen to me,” Chestnut explained.
Like Williams in Kick-Ass, the character isn’t one to get involved in action sequences. That won’t change in Kick-Ass 2, Chestnut confirmed.
“I don’t really get too much action in this one,” he said. “I’m the wise guardian. I know what she’s into, but I let her know — ‘Don’t force me to have to make a decision. Because I’m your guardian and I love you and I made a promise to your father that I would look after you, but I’m also an officer of the law. So if you break the law, and you’re out there doing this Kick-Ass stuff, I’m gonna have to make a decision.'”
Kick-Ass 2 stars Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, Jim Carrey, Yancy Butler, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Lindy Booth, Andy Nyman, Chestnut and Robert Emms. The film opens Aug. 16.
