Axel-In-Charge: Waid & Samnee on "Black Widow" and the Dawn of the All-New, All-Different Era
Wasting little time, departing Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara has signed a deal with Fox Television Studios to develop cable projects under his new banner 44 Strong Productions.
The move comes less than three months after Mazzara announced his departure from the hit AMC drama following “a difference of opinion about where the show should be going forward.” He replaced Frank Darabont, who was fired by the network in July 2011.
The new deal reunites Mazzara with Fox, where he served as a writer and executive producer on FX’s acclaimed police drama The Shield.
“I’ve had a long history with Fox Television Studios, and it feels good to set up shop at a studio that I respect and trust, especially with David leading the charge,” he said in a statement. “FTVS is giving me the opportunity to develop my own projects and to shepherd other writers on their own shows. This is where I want to be, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner as I take the next step in my career.”
