American Horror Story Creator Reveals Third Season’s Title
At long last, fans of American Horror Story know what the upcoming Season 3 will be called. During the PaleyFest panel for American Horror Story: Asylum, series co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the title is Coven.
Although Murphy did not elaborate on the content of the 13-episode season, the word “coven” does seem to confirm that the new story arc will concern witches. With New Orleans slated as at least one of Season 3′s shooting locations, that would make sense.
“It’s a really cool story we’ve been talking about for a couple of years. So we’re going to do that,” Murphy said during the panel. “The fun thing is researching what are the really haunted places in America, and we have a couple doozy locales.”
So far the cast for Season 3 includes new AHS actor Kathy Bates and returning stars Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe. Bates made a surprise appearance at the Paleyfest panel, and Murphy described her character as “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.” Season 3 will be set in the present day and focus on “female power” as a major theme. The central monster of the new season will be a female character.
