"Game of Thrones": 10 Questions for Season 7
Despite grossing a dismal $54 million in North America, barely covering its production budget, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters met with far greater success overseas, where it earned more than $150 million. That’s enough for Paramount Pictures and MGM to begin development on a sequel.
Directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), the action-horror film picks up 15 years after the harrowing adventure at the gingerbread house, with the folktale characters (stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton) now ruthless bounty hunters who track down and kill witches. Famke Janssen plays the leader of a coven of witches they seek to destroy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of Gary Sanchez Productions and Beau Flynn are expected to return as producers.
