Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Ken Watanabe has taken on Batman and Leonardo DiCaprio, but he has a larger target in mind for his next film: Godzilla. The actor known for his roles in Batman Begins and Inception has signed on to square off against the King of the Monsters in the Legendary Pictures reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While many of the film’s details are being kept under wraps — including Watanabe’s role — we do know for sure that filming began Monday in Vancouver.
Watanabe will join Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn. The giant-monster movie was rewritten by Frank Darabont for director Gareth Edwards, who helmed the low-budget Monsters, a film that took many cues from Japanese monster movies.
Godzilla is expected to debut on May 16, 2014.
