Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
An actor from the HBO series Girls has just revealed he’ll appear in Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.
During an interview with Indiewire (via /Film), Bridesmaids and Girls star Chris O’Dowd revealed he filmed one scene for the new Marvel movie. The comedian was talking about how he’d like to venture into more dramatic territory, although he doesn’t know if he’d ready for a full-on action movie.
“I think I’ll do more dramatic stuff and I think I have some stuff coming out that’s a bit more dramatic. I don’t know if I’d do an action movie because I don’t know if I could keep a straight face honestly, I just think it’s so silly. Like I love watching them but I can’t imagine me doing one,” he told the site. “Actually, you know what I’ve done, just for fun because I didn’t think there was any way that I could be in a superhero movie, so I’ve done a scene in the new Thor movie, just for that. I just do like one scene, which was fun.”
It doesn’t seem as though he’ll be fighting any battles in The Dark World, though. O’Dowd had tweeted a telling statement on Nov. 26, 2012 that seemingly reveals his role in the new Thor movie: “So today I’m filming a date scene with Natalie Portman. #UpTheRossies.”
Could Portman’s Jane be trying to move on to other men after the events of Thor and The Avengers showed her the darker, more magical side of the universe? Sounds like that plan won’t work very well, considering she is said to travel the realms with Thor in The Dark World.
Directed by Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World stars Chis Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Christopher Eccleston. It opens No. 8.
