Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) won’t be the only ones flying around in armor in Marvel’s Iron Man 3.
The above television spot for the Shane Black-directed sequel centers on Tony’s efforts to protect Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) from the threat of the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), which apparently include programming the Iron Man suit to attach itself to her in moments of danger.
There’s more Iron Man 3 armor talk out there in the world leading up to the release a month from now. The movie’s Facebook page has a game that allows players to reveal various Iron Man suits. Star has been hard at work pumping out all kinds of variations on his theme including the Mark 33 Enhanced Energy Suit, dubbed Silver Centurion, and the Mark 40 Hyper Veloticy suit, called Shotgun.
Iron Man 3 also stars Jon Favreau, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton. The film opens May 3. Here’s the official synopsis:
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
