"Justice League": Exploring How Superman Returns (Again)
Film, Comic Books
Following Monday’s six-second sneak peek — or “tweaser,” as director James Mangold referred to it — Fox has released a 20-second teaser for the first trailer for The Wolverine, which debuts Wednesday. The MTV exclusive even comes with a brief introduction from star Hugh Jackman.
As fleeting as it is, the footage is packed with action, and scowls, not to mention some tantalizing clues about the film’s plot — namely, that the laboratory experiments that resulted in his adamantium-laced skeleton, may play a central role. The MTV Movies Blog also suggests there’s a hint that Logan’s mutant healing factor may be failing him.
The Wolverine, which opens July 26, also stars Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
