Axel-In-Charge: Extending "Secret Wars," Excitement for a "Totally Awesome Hulk"
Forget REM, This Is the End features comedy stars dealing with the end of the world, but they feel far from fine. For proof, look no further than the new red-band trailer for the post-apocalyptic comedy introduced by Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Danny McBride.
While the previous trailer revealed more of the aftermath of the sudden apocalypse, this one kicks off with a huge party at Franco’s house attended by Rogen, Baruchel, McBride, Jonah Hill, Mindy Kaling, Michael Cera, Craig Robinson, Martin Starr, Aziz Ansari and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, among others. We hear Robinson run down the list of the dead, but this time you actually get to see what happens to them, and it’s not always pretty — especially in Cera’s case. Heck, you even get to see Emma Watson break into Franco’s house and rob them.
This Is the End, (a.k.a. The End of the World and The Apocalypse) started out as a short film called Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse, starring Baruchel and Rogen as themselves living through the end of the world. The short was written by Rogen’s Superbad partner Evan Goldberg and Jason Stone. Rogen co-wrote the film version with Goldberg and Stone and also paired up with Goldberg to direct.
This Is the End opens June 14.
