Pee-wee Herman is headed down the rabbit hole.

According to Deadline, Paul Reubens has been cast as the voice of the White Rabbit in ABC’s planned Once Upon a Time spinoff, Once: Wonderland.

The new ABC project already stars Sophie Lowe as Alice, Peter Gadiot as her love interest Cyrus and Michael Socha as the Knave of Hearts. Emma Rigby will play the Red Queen, and it’s expected that Once star Barbara Hershey could reprise her role as Cora the Queen of Hearts in flashbacks. It’s unclear whether Sebastian Stan’s Mad Hatter or the Cheshire Cat will play roles in Once: Wonderland, but it seems likely. The four-scene presentation for the network (rather than a full pilot) will be directed by Once Upon a Time‘s Ralph Hemecker, who helmed the two Once episodes that dealt with the Wonderland world.

Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are penning Wonderland‘s 15- to 20-page presentation with the help from Once‘s Jane Espenson and Zack Estrin. Estrin is expected to act as showrunner on Once: Wonderland if ABC picks it up to series. No word yet if the spinoff will get a backdoor pilot in Once Upon a Time.

OUAT’s in a drag moment, IMO. But I’m not fretting, as they made such a major game changer between seasons 1-2. But I’m looking forward to Wonderland becoming a show as well.
