Disney to Reboot "The Rocketeer" With Black Female Lead
Following the debut last week of a handful of photos in Empire magazine, Paramount Pictures has released a dozen high-resolution stills from director J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. They provide us with more (and in many cases new) looks at virtually the entire central cast — Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Keith Urban, Alice Eve, Simon Pegg and Bruce Greenwood — as well as the above shot of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and a photo of Abrams on the bridge set.
In addition, there’s a new poster of Cumberbatch in the smoking ruins of London, accompanied by the words, “Earth Will Fall.”
Here’s the film’s full synopsis:
In summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 15 in IMAX 3D theaters and May 17 everywhere else.
