I, Frankenstein will finally see the light of day on Jan. 24, 2014 … supposedly. The Lionsgate film, based on Underworld writer Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel, has been moved around a lot, with previous intended release dates of February 2013 and September 2013.
Aaron Eckhart stars as Frankenstein’s monster, known as Adam, who has survived to the modern age. He’s a demon played by Bill Nighy on his trail, as well as Nighy’s henchman (Socratis Otto), because they want to figure out how to reanimate the dead. Adam finds himself in the middle of a supernatural war that threatens his prolonged existence. The project was first announced with Eckhart to star way back in October 2011.
“The film’s franchise potential, given its large scale premise, setting and creative elements are perfectly aligned with the 3D experience and the studio wants to put forth the best version of the film possible to audiences,” an official press release announcing the new release date said.
Directed by Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow, When the War Began), I, Frankenstein also stars Mirando Otto, Jai Courtney and Aden Young.
