New "Flash" Clip Introduces Multiverse Theory, Multiple Easter Eggs
While the current article on The Hollywood Reporter contends “details of Lovibond’s role are being kept in the farther reaches of deep space, home of Marvel’s security bunker,” the original stated she will play an “aide to a near-immortal being called The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation.”
The Collector, one of the Elders of the Universe, has a superpowered daughter named Carina Walters.
Lovibond joins a cast that includes Parks and Recreation actor Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Star Trek Into Darkness star Zoe Saldana as Gamora, WWE wrestler Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and The Walking Dead alum Michael Rooker as Yondu.
Director James Gunn has said Guardians of the Galaxy will be from other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while still remaining familiar. “In terms of a lot of stuff we’re very much like The Avengers, where it’s a very big, huge movie,” he said last week. “It’s different because it’s cosmic, it’s in outer space, it’s very colorful. We have a whole history of science fiction behind us that we’re dealing with, and borrowing from, and also fighting with to create something unique. But at the same time there’s a lot of stuff it has in common with The Avengers.”
Guardians of the Galaxy opens Aug. 1, 2014.
