Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Will Go "All the Way Dark," Promise Rosenberg & Loeb
Renny Harlin’s Hercules 3D has added an another muscled leading man to its ranks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spartacus: War of the Damned star Liam McIntyre will fight side by side with Twilight heartthrob Kellan Lutz in the Die Hard 2 director’s interpretation of the ancient Greek myth.
Not to be confused with Brett Ratner’s Hercules project — based on the Radical comic book Hercules: The Thracian War — this Nu Image/Millennium tale of the Greek demi-god features McIntyre as an army captain named Sotiris who winds up becoming fast friends with Herc after the two are sold into slavery.
“He’s infinitely entertaining to watch,” Harlin said of McIntyre. “I am lucky to have him play military commander, Sotiris, Hercules’ best friend. Their relationship begins antagonistic and develops into a close bond, forged in battle.”
Harlin wrote the script with Sean Hood (Conan the Barbarian) and producer Giulio Steve. In addition to becoming friends with Sotiris, Hercules also reportedly falls in love with a princess from Crete, though how that plays into the overall story remains a secret for now. Filming is expected to start this May in Bulgaria.
