Chris Pine in Talks to Join "Wonder Woman" Film
It’s been a while since we’ve seen any news of The Expendables 3, the upcoming installment of Sylvester Stallones ensemble action franchise. Last we heard, Jackie Chan said he’d be interested in a kind of buddy picture with himself and Stallone if it had healthy doses of humor, but that was back in December.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, though, the film might be one giant step closer to go. The site reports Stallone hand-picked Australian director Patrick Hughes to helm The Expendables 3, but that the choice still has to be approved by Millennium. Hughes only has one feature film under his belt, 2010’s Red Hill, but it’s a well-respected one with a 78 percent “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Hughes is expected to get the OK from Millennium, which will work in favor of the proposed late summer start date for filming. While nothing has been officially announced, it’s assumed that series stars Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Terry Crews and Randy Couture will return. Other names, in addition to Chan, that have been floated out there include Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Nic Cage, and Clint Eastwood. Considering the cameo-packed second installment gave bigger parts to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis while also featuring Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Liam Hemsworth, Nan Yu and Scott Adkins in various capacities, don’t count anyone out from participating unless they outright say they’re not interested, as Norris did in a conversation with Access Hollywood.
